A few days ago, I wrote about a doctor-developed, doctor-led, clinically-proven wellness program. The name of the program is “Transform Your Health” ™.
The results of the clinical study of this program are impressive indeed. It is not a weight-loss program, but people lost a pound a day during the study. This is the perfect way to lose weight. It is the result of a life-style change, not a temporary diet.
The people in the study reduced their cholesterol by 30 points, and their triglycerides by 35 points. They also reduced their blood pressure by 10 points. This was all achieved without any drugs. Another impressive result was related to what is found with Type II diabetes. There was a 16 point increase in Insulin Sensitivity, a 15 point decrease in fasting Insulin levels, and a .017 decrease in Urinary 8-Isoprostanes. All of these elements are key markers of “metabolic syndrome”, which is related to long term degenerative diseases such as many cancers, heart disease, and Type II diabetes. These are preventable diseases with a proper life-style change.
All companies, large or small can greatly improve their bottom line by including a wellness program for their employees. Many companies do have a wellness program because if you have 6 employees, and 2 are out, you are missing a third of your work force. Medical costs can consume half of corporate profits. Preventable illness makes up 70% of the total cost of illness.
Cornell University Institute for Health and Productivity Studies found that $100-$150 per employee each year to participate in an employee wellness program can save companies $300 to $450. The Wellness Councils of America reported a $24 return for every $1 spent.
Some of the benefits of wellness programs are:
. Lower Health Care Costs
. Reduced Absenteeism
. Higher Productivity
. Reduced Use of Health Care Benefits
. Reduced Worker’s Comp/Disability
. Reduced Injuries
. Increased Morale and Loyalty
